Welcome to Onions Etc., Inc.
We at Onions Etc., Inc. are a shipper and repacker that has an intense desire to partner with you in the marketing of our product in your stores. We are conscious about our responsibility to design a product that aids itself in transposing an onion, potato, or walnut into a commodity that is an impulse purchase item.
We realize the importance of the quality in the bag. We are not biased to any one company, grower, area, or variety. We are partial to quality and quality only.
Our food shots (cross merchandising with steaks, hamburgers, Hispanic foods), recipes, Easy onion and potato tips, and the “For Your Health Corner” all appeal to the consumers senses. We are striving to aid you in selling our product to the consumer that does not have onions, potatoes or walnuts on his or her shopping list. Customers that are presently using this bag are seeing their sales increase. Women are telling us that now they have good onions in an attractive bag that they can display in their kitchen.
We developed this bag with the help of over 30 housewives. The following are all items these housewives felt were important when they looked at buying a bag of onions or potatoes:
- Good quality in the bag.
- Recipes. Homemakers always want to be reminded about recipes and suggested uses.
- A bag they could proudly display in their kitchen.
- A bag that was informative about how this commodity improves their families health (they did not want the percentages of vitamins, minerals, etc.).
- Tips on how are the best ways to handle this commodity.
- Origin and safety of the commodity.
HomeGrownGoodness.com
Each bag has an “origin” sticker that is located on the back of the bag (see example). This sticker is applied at the time of packing to identify the farmer who grew the produce being packed. It can be changed as we pack to correlate with the grower whose produce we are using to fill the bag. Consumers can go to our consumer web site, www.HomeGrownGoodness.com to:
- Actually see the grower, farm fields, packing sheds, and eventually the safety records (third party testing) of this grower.
Our parents and grandparents once knew the farmer that grew what they were eating. We are reacquainting today’s American consumer generation with today’s American farming generation.
- Expand their cooking world and produce knowledge
Cooking is in. Chefs like Emeral Lagassie and his show on HGTV has taken off due to society’s interest in cooking. Our Homegrown Goodness.com consumer web site has a recipe section that is filled with recipes that correlate to the commodity in the bag.
HomeGrownGoodness.com (our consumer web site) will have a recipe of the month. We will have an on going contest that people will be able to enter. They will give us their favorite recipe that includes walnuts, potato’s or onions. The winner every month will be published as our “Recipe of the Month” where he/she will get credit and also credit will be given to the chain store where he/she shops and buys their Homegrown onions, walnuts, or potato’s. Every winner will receive the ONION COOKBOOK by Jan Roberts-Dominguez.
We have more consumer oriented information available on our web site, including produce health and nutrition values, proper storage and preparation, etc.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION On September 10th we introduced this bag (3 lb. Cooking onions and 5 lb. Cooking onions) to approximately 105 stores. Twenty days later we had over 16,000 hits on our consumer web site HomeGrownGoodness.com. People do want to know who grew their dinner, they want new recipe ideas, and they are wanting to expand their knowledge on what the are eating. Another prime example of this is the explosion of Emeril’s show on HGTV’s cooking channel.
Our seasoned sales and marketing staff, with a combined total of over 100 years in the produce industry, is here to serve you, and to deliver what we promise.
Thank you for your time,
The Onions Etc.Inc. Family
